This Introductory course is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of electricity with use of the (NEC) National Electrical Code that pertains to the renewable energy fields. With this class students will learn about the NEC and what you need to know for national codes, learn to properly use a multi-meter, how to perform basic electrical calculations pertaining to watts, volts, current, voltage drop, and resistance, as well as AC/DC theory and wire sizing. As a student, you will learn to understand such devices as diodes, rectifiers, and transistors. You will also learn what is required from OSHA with lock out tag out, and other safety procedures. Heavy Equipment Operators work on many different projects including roads, bridges, construction, mining, and the timber industry. Heavy Equipment Operations Level 1 students will have an introduction to the following: terminology and terms used for operations, basic safety, and career opportunities, comprehensive overview of safety requirements on the sites with an emphasis on OSHA, MSHA, and NIOSH, along with proper PPE, and maintenance. You will be introduced to the eleven most-used pieces of heavy equipment, learn to describe the functional operation and uses for each piece of equipment listed, as well as drive train and hydraulic systems. You will also learn prestart checks of machines’ hardware, driveline, hydraulic, electrical components, and controls. You will be introduced to and learn the process of planning and executing earthmoving activities on various types of projects. Finally, you will be introduced to grades and learn the concepts and skills needed to prepare graded surfaces using different pieces of equipment, and learn to interpret construction stakes and the proper markings needed to set a proper grade and slope. 40-hour class

Level 2 (HEO Level 2) you will learn how to interpret Civil Drawings to calculate cut and fill requirements for roadway and construction sites. You will also expand your knowledge from level 1 in relation to setting and interpreting grading stakes, control surface, and ground water on the site, and learn the layout of foundations and pipe. You will learn how to identify soil types that affect the job, shrink and swell factors, as well as discuss how soil conditions affect the performance of your equipment. You will gain techniques to work with different types of soils. Finally, you will learn about types of equipment and instruments used for finish grading, learn how to stabilize and control soils, and techniques used to produce a finish grade on a project. 40-hour class

It includes "hands-on" activities in a lab environment to apply skills to test and commission a system. Students will gain the required level of working knowledge for designing and installing PV systems. Course covers series and parallel circuits, shading, site analysis, mounting of cells, inverters, sizing, grounding, wiring, and overcurrent devices. Also provides an overview of the three basic solar power system applications, primarily focused on grid direct systems.
